I made some voice recordings this summer; people of different ages recited the same text. I haven’t used the recordings before now where I got the idea of voice replacement. The text/ poem is part of my experiment: From word to Image.
It is roughly made, lots to change, but for the first time, I can see a direction of working with sound, image and movement in this project.
By replacing the voice from a 12-year-old to an adult, I find that I can work with “time” in relation to storytelling – eg. an adult talking about something experienced as a child.
I contributed the Interim show 2017 with the surrealisticgenerator app which I developed with my colleague Stig.
Jonathan and London based students arranged the 1. year showroom, they found a computer and install the app. Visitors only had to press spacebar and get new images from the generator.
I was pleased to see the entire show, it gave overview and inspiration for next year.
Last week I went to CC in order to see the video and sound installation “Invented Birth” by Bill Viola, 2014. The installation shows five transformations in the human life cycle – from life to death.

Located in Bella Centre Copenhagen, Code Art Fair presented leading as well as emerging galleries from all over the world.
I went there in the end of August. I had only an hour and a half to check out a huge amount of galleries. Because of the short time and the influence of a book I am reading, which is about aesthetic, I decided to go through the whole exhibition and only stop if anything sprang to my eyes, well knowing that I might miss something. Fortunately, there was something. On my way out I realised that I had passed by an interesting art project on my way in. I deliberately avoided reading the signs about the work or gallery in an attempt to get a pure experience of the object.

Of course, it’s probably a machine that has embroidered the text, but because it was embroidered, it attracted my curiosity; what is so important that it has to be embroidered and how does it emphasise to the “story”?
The text referred to a woman’s experience of being abandoned by her boyfriend. Same story three times, shorter and shorter.
It was an artwork of French artist Sophie Calle. I just read about her in a book from Whitechapel: Chance. Sophia Calle is using life-experiences as inspiration source.
Galerie Raum Mit Licht from Vienna showed some awesome interesting collages. After a conversation with the responsible woman from the collection, I found out that gallery was specialized in art made with collage technique.

Topic: The Research Paper, based on draft 2
Gareth found lots of interesting possibilities in the draft of my Research paper, but he mentions, more than one time, the limited space. I had to plan what kind of weight I give to questions about science and information theory and the anthropologist research and how much weight I give to the question about artworks artistic processes.
Gareth thinks the scientific, information theory and so forth gives a kind of explanatory framework to some of the stuff but is not necessarily the artist are doing; they are doing a different kind of things.
I talked about working process and the two artists. And that I started thinking about the anthropology method.
Gareth: It is now an editorial and structural perspective. What is realistic and practical to focus on now in the next three weeks. What will be the best to focus on from now on?
A research paper of this kind sometimes it isn’t so it comes to the definite conclusion it is to show a kind of critical examination of a set of questions. It is possible to conclude more questions in some aspect. But I have to bring different areas into the conversation or making some new kind of connection, ideas.
Gareth recommended me to look at the conclusion to see what will be the outcome. At the moment I got the way art could be understood in three ways.
Having the tutorial helped me to narrow the topic. I am stressed because of the limit time and the limit space.
It is time to stop taking in new topics; it is time to make it more simple – narrow the idea and make a working plan for the rest of the time left. Remember time to translate.

What inspired me, is the idea of a meter; it was a meter, and it is still, but you can’t see it anymore.
I took my squares which initially was a self-portrait and stacked them – it is the same portrait, but now you see it in a new constellation.
After buried my self in books and screens in attempting to get insight and knowledge enough to write a research paper, it comes as a relief to make practical investigations of different artists ways of creating and thinking.
What I used from Kelly, in this example, is the arbitrary arrangement of squares.
It was initial a self-portrait, I cut it up – it is still a self-portrait, but in a new composition.
